Opened in 2013 and under new management since 2019, it sits directly on the Camino route in the small coastal village of Buelna, eastern Asturias. Pilgrim Insight
Albergue Santa Marina is unusual on the Camino del Norte — it has no shared dormitories, only private rooms with en suite bathrooms, at albergue prices. Host Eva María and her team create a warm, family atmosphere in the converted roadside building, and the bar-restaurant serves traditional Asturian food including excellent local grilled meats. Furthermore, the private room format makes it an ideal choice for couples or small groups walking the Way of St. James together.
Note: the albergue opens from 1 March to 31 October — always check in advance. Additionally, check-in is from 14:00 to 21:00 and advance booking is strongly recommended in summer.
