Albergue El Congreso in Villaviciosa

Overview

Albergue El Congreso in Villaviciosa is a private albergue offering dormitory and private room accommodation for pilgrims on the Camino del Norte. Originally founded in 1914 as Hostal El Congreso, it stands as one of Villaviciosa’s longest-established pilgrim stops. The albergue sits directly opposite the beautiful gardens of the town’s Ayuntamiento.

Conveniently located in the heart of Villaviciosa, it puts cider houses, restaurants, and supermarkets all within a short walk. Furthermore, the Camino route passes just half a block from the front door.

Pilgrim Insight

Albergue El Congreso brings a welcoming and well-organised energy to the end of a tough coastal stage. The staff go out of their way for arriving pilgrims. Moreover, laundry, breakfast preparation, and onward planning assistance all come as standard.

Beyond the albergue, Villaviciosa marks the key junction between the Camino del Norte and the Camino Primitivo. Therefore, it is worth researching your onward route before you arrive. Note: beds fill quickly in summer — booking ahead is strongly recommended.

If you haven’t yet selected all your equipment, take a look at our recommended pilgrim gear list to see everything we recommend for the Camino.
