Pilgrim Insight

Albergue Betania offers a humble, heartfelt shelter during Frómista’s colder months. Pilgrims often mention how comforting and essential it is when other albergues are closed, especially in late fall, winter, and early spring. It feels very personal — run by Lourdes (and José) who really aim to provide a warm welcome with what they have.

Because there are only 7 beds and it operates intermittently, arriving or calling ahead is key. Don’t expect luxury — this is rest, quiet, and community simplified. If you’re walking in winter and need a refuge, Betania is a gem.
