Albergue de Peregrinos de Azofra
Overview
Albergue de Peregrinos de Azofra is the municipal albergue offering accommodation exclusively for pilgrims with a credential on the Camino Francés. Opened in 2004 on Calle Las Parras, this modern albergue sits in the centre of the quiet village of Azofra. It offers up to 100 beds across 30 twin rooms, giving pilgrims more privacy than a standard dormitory. In addition, the albergue includes a kitchen, dining room, patio with foot pool, covered bike storage, washing machine, dryer, and free Wi-Fi. Managed by hospitalero Augusto, it opens from 25 March to 31 October. The nightly rate is €15.
Conveniently located between Nájera and Santo Domingo de la Calzada, the albergue provides an easy stop on Stage 9 of the Camino de Santiago. Furthermore, local restaurants, vineyards, and village services are all within walking distance.
Pilgrim Insight
Albergue de Peregrinos de Azofra is one of the most popular municipal albergues on the Camino Francés because of its twin-room layout. Instead of large dormitories, pilgrims stay in smaller shared rooms with just two beds. As a result, many returning walkers specifically choose Azofra for a quieter and more comfortable night.
Moreover, the patio foot pool is especially appreciated after the long and exposed stage through La Rioja wine country.
Note: reservations are not accepted, so beds are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Additionally, the nearest ATM is in Alesanco, around 1 km away, so carrying cash is recommended.
