Albergue La Rectoral de Priesca
Albergue La Rectoral de Priesca in Priesca
Overview
Albergue La Rectoral de Priesca is a private albergue offering dormitory accommodation exclusively for pilgrims on the Camino del Norte. Set in the Casa Rectoral at the entrance to the tiny village of Priesca, directly on the Camino route, it earns consistent praise from walkers for its warm hospitaleras, excellent breakfast, and the extraordinary access it offers to one of Asturias’s greatest pre-Romanesque treasures.
Conveniently located between Sebrayo and Villaviciosa, Priesca sits on a rewarding inland stretch of the Way of St. James. The 10th-century Iglesia de San Salvador de Priesca — a UNESCO World Heritage Site — stands just steps from the albergue door.
Pilgrim Insight
La Rectoral de Priesca stands out as one of the most beloved albergues on the entire Camino del Norte. The hospitaleras — two dedicated nuns — offer guided evening visits to the pre-Romanesque church of San Salvador, a genuinely memorable experience for pilgrims lucky enough to be there. Furthermore, a small shop on site stocks essential supplies, and the communal atmosphere is warm and unhurried.
Note: the albergue requires a pilgrim credential, closes on Mondays, and operates from 1 May to 31 October. Booking ahead is strongly recommended as beds fill quickly on this popular stage.
