Pilgrim Insight
Albergue Viejo Lucas is a genuine institution on the Camino del Norte. The huge outdoor patio, library and games room make it one of the most sociable stops on the route, and the building’s history gives it a character that purpose-built albergues lack. Furthermore, the albergue also offers surf lessons, paddleboarding, and adventure activities — a practical bonus for pilgrims taking a rest day in Cóbreces.
Note: the albergue opens from 18 March to 23 October, with check-in from 12:00 to 21:00. Additionally, advance booking is recommended in July and August — with 162 beds it rarely turns pilgrims away, but confirmed places give peace of mind.
